Farewell

Well our last day was a success. We finished roofing 2 houses and then spent the rest of the day seeing port-au-prince... Its hard to blog b/c we are leaving so many Haitians in hardship...however, I had a blast and the pictures are amazing. I will post some when I get back tom... Can't wait for A/C, my bed and beautiful girls!

Also, for $25/month you can sponsor a child to go to school, doctor & dentist, class and clothes... Let me know if interested? Take care,

Mik

Heat Index

Is Hot, well over 100 and we should get 2 roofs framed today and roofed tom.

Hold on Everingham is yelling @ me for blogging :)

One of my fa?orite things is the family watches us as we build their house! Very humbling,

The Wall (not Pink Floyd)

Blanchard is surrounded by a 10 foot block Wall. The wall is built to protect the childen so they can cook for them and staff. If there was no wall, the school would be filled by the hunger.

This has also provided safety for us and comfort. I feel very safe w/ in the Wall but outside of the wall, I don't (language barrier, safety b/c of our skin color indicates $$, etc..)

I feel I put a mental wall up back home. I try to prevent pain and especially for my daughter. I try to avoid any harms way. I hang out w/ certain people and when I go outside of that wall, I question where god is?

Realistically, I need to understand that life outside of the wall is the life on how it was intended: Adventure, dependancy and who knows what? I feel I brought some of my wall down by being in Haiti and that's a start...

The Palace of Haiti

35

Is the amount of seconds that shook haiti on Jan. 12th...I was talking to Jackie (Pastor Leon's wife) about her day of the quake, I took 2 things away from our conversation:

1. The Nation thought that the world was ending (if you are a Christian, they thought that Christ was coming back) and everybody was yelling the Blood of Jesus

2. The after shooks, was almost harder for some people b/c people were uncertain if a more severe earthquake was about to happen.

I think we can relate to this on a much smaller scale. Sometimes fear prevents me from trusting. I'm worried about what people think or if God will truly provide. I'm worried about building possessions for myself...... But that can be gone in 35 seconds
